This appreciation course is to give you an overview of Senior Welding Inspection.

When you have booked your online course, you will receive an email notification with your login details.

You will then have 60 days to complete your distance-learning course. 

The Senior Welding Inspector Appreciation Course (CSWIP) is designed for those in a supervisory or quality control role.

This is aimed at those who wish to gain further knowledge but do not intend to sit the CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector exam immediately on completion.

Throughout your learning there is reference to examinations, which is aimed at those using it to become certified. If you decide you would like to do the refresher and exam day there will be additional fees.

The online material, as detailed below, covers the theory element of the course.

With the online learning material, you can work through the 23 sections of this Senior Inspector Online Course (CSWIP), at your own pace as you are given 60 days access with potential for extended access.

You will be able to download the course notes, see and hear presentations, video, attempt course questions.

The course will be marked as complete once all of the sections have been completed and the homeworks have been passed.
 

The 23 sections cover:

  • How to use a specification followed by questions

  • Welded joint design and weld symbols then Homework 1

  • Weldability; brittle and fatigue failures and evaluate NDT reports then Homework 2

  • Welding procedures, residual stress and distortion, heat treatments and weld repairs then Homework 3 and 4 followed by a mock examination

By the end of the course you should be able to:

  • Know the importance of working to a specification and how to work to one

  • Be able to interpret welding symbols on engineering drawings

  • Be able to evaluate NDT reports

  • Know why heat treatments are so important

  • Know how and why brittle and fatigue fractures occur, appreciate why some joint designs are preferred over others
